Are you looking for an exciting well rounded Senior Finance position for a fantastic education support charity? Does working on a number of strategic projects and overseeing the finance function sound appealing? Would you benefit from a hugely flexible working culture?

This newly created Head of Finance and Resources position is a fantastic opportunity to join a small but ambitious charity. Due to a pivotal point of growth, this crucial position will report into the CEO and drive forward the financial strategy whilst overseeing the Finance and Resources function of the charity.

Key responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with CEO and other senior stakeholders to drive forward strategic plans as the charity expands.

  • Provide relevant forecasting information which is aligned with future goals.

  • Produce accurate and timely management reporting for the charity.

  • Oversee process and project improvement across areas including finance, HR and IT.

  • Manage a small team whilst enabling them to deliver accurate delivery of internal operations.

  • Lead on budgeting, forecasting and year-end processes.

  • Work as a business partner to key senior stakeholders across the charity including the CEO, Trustees and other Heads of Departments.

  • Manage and maintain all governance and compliance associated with the charity and act as the point of contact for any queries on this front.

  • Maintain strong technical accounting across month-end processes with a 'hands-on’ approach to finance.

Person specification

  • A fully qualified CCAB accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA).

  • Experience of charity accounting and knowledge of Charity SORP.

  • Experience of working with and explaining financial information to non-finance staff.

  • Ideally have an understanding of managing HR or IT functions however not essential.

  • A strong communicator with the gravitas to work with senior stakeholders.

  • Strong excel and/or system skills.

  • A passion for working within a charity helping to support children.
