Brief:

Our client, undergoing a significant period of industry disruption, needed to transform their business from a capital-intensive to a data-driven model. They had made heavy investments in data and digital capabilities, but faced challenges in siloed operations and creeping duplication in a centralised model. They were committed to streamlining their Target Operating Model (TOM) but also wanted to focus on the shape of their future organisation strategy, TOM and capability.

Solution:

Through an exploratory conversation, we identified the opportunity for an interim specialist in Organisation Design (OD), capable of initiating an efficiency review and laying the groundwork for a more comprehensive transformation journey. Execution:

Our search for the right professional resulted in presenting the client with three highly experienced interim OD candidates within four days. The chosen candidate successfully initiated a six-week efficiency review while garnering the leadership team's support for a comprehensive OD programme. Recognising resistance within the organisation, we recommended a hybrid solution: specialist consultancy for delivery of detailed design resource under the interim OD Lead, ensuring client control and strategic direction. In addition, we helped the client find an interim change and comms manager and a leadership development specialist to ensure successful implementation of the new operating model, governance and ways of working.
