​Altum Consulting have taken on a fantastic new position, supporting our client who is a globally renowned sports brand, in their search for an Accounting Lead for their EMEA regions.

Our client is a US owned, international brand with offices and stores located across the global. They pride themselves on being able to push boundaries and to think outside of the box through innovation and creative ideas which are led via a fantastic employee base who are highly valued across the organisation.

As the Accounting Lead for EMEA, you will reporting to the EMEA Finance Director and working in their vibrant offices located in Amsterdam.

Role & Responsibilities

Statutory reporting:

  • Ensure the coordination and accurate delivery of the month end closing process and statutory reporting for all legal entities

  • Detailed review of financial statements

  • Liaise with external auditors on the preparation and audit of the statutory financial statements

  • Lead the accounting team on the preparation of statutory financial statements

Internal controls:

  • Ensure that the EMEA regions have an effective and compliant internal controls environment

  • Conduct training specific to the EMEA business focusing on internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

  • Keep up to date with European entities compliance trends

  • Actively support process improvement and implementation projects related to operational control projects

  • Act as the point of contact with the Corporate Internal controls team to support effective controls and reporting from the region.


  • Support on ad-hoc projects ensuring completion in a timely and efficient manner

  • Challenge the status quo and influence implementation projects and process improvements

  • Offering support with other ad hoc duties when required

Education & Experience 

  • Educated with a Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent

  • Professional accountancy qualification is highly desired (CA, RC, CPA, ACA etc)

  • 5+ years of professional work experience within a similar controlling/accounting function ideally in an international environment

  • Audit experience, preferably from a Big 4 firm is highly desired

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage key deliverables in a timely manner

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Comfortable working within a fast-growth and dynamic business

  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP reporting and SOX controls

  • Advanced IT skills using Excel and SAP (preferred)

  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to work with senior management across varying locations

  • Fluency in English is essential (any additional languages is an advantage)
