Our client is a leading global data centre developer and operator with a significant European portfolio.They require a Programme Manager to manage a variety of technology focused projects in Germany across EMEA. Responsible for managing the design process and implementing IT/technology systems to the data centre buildings, including end-to end delivery, overviewing IT hardware, network and Security Systems.
You will work on simultaneous projects, co-ordinating with vendors, clients, general contractors and other departments. The role will be based in London or Frankfurt with a mixture of on-site and home working and travel to our various European and UK sites as required once or twice a month.
The Role:
- Oversee the comprehensive Technology plan, including the critical path, task allocation across workstreams, dependency management with GC, as well as design, delivery, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Responsibilities include staying updated on project progress across teams, which may involve construction teams, cabling contractors, electricians, and engineers.
- Act as the main point of contact for the IT/technology build-out for data centres in Germany.
- Coordinate closely with the European Technology Portfolio Team in the UK, discussing end-to-end delivery, project progress, and escalating risks or issues as needed.
- Provide workstream overviews in areas such as 1) Hardware and networking, 2) BMS/EPMS operational technology design and delivery, and 3) Security scope and implementation.
- Manage project budgeting, including purchase order oversight and cash flow forecasting.
- Collaborate with internal teams-including Sales, Design, Construction, and Operations to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Offer local expertise to support construction activities in Germany.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, serving as a trusted advisor.
- Take responsibility for weekly reporting and escalate any issues to the EU Technology Portfolio Manager, providing updates on changes during regular Project Reviews.
- Engage with stakeholders across the organisation.
- Administer the change request process throughout each project phase.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation is provided in an appropriate format upon handover from vendors.
- Manage project-specific vendor relationships with technology partners.
Core Competencies
- Must be proactive, dependable, and skilled in managing workforce and projects across multiple simultaneous initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience in creating and managing work schedules across various projects.
- Skilled in selecting, negotiating with, coordinating, and managing external consultants, vendors, and contractors.
- Proficient in applying budget principles to vendor contracts, invoicing, and purchase orders, with the ability to manage project budgets effectively throughout each project phase.
- Promote clear communication at all project levels to maintain alignment with program goals and assist in identifying potential opportunities, risks, or challenges.
- Ability to build and sustain effective professional relationships with a diverse range of individuals, both internal and external to the organisation.
- Significant experience in managing budgets ranging from €10M to €50M.
Requirements
- Experience of project management within the construction industry specifically for BMS/EMS and control systems.
- Strong project team leadership skills with the ability to get the best out of the project.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills in German and English.
- Experience project managing engineering and/or design, and construction of IT networks, BMS, EPMS, or Security system.
- Ability to travel across Europe and the UK.
