Altum Consulting is excited to be supporting a market leading hospitality brand based in London to recruit a Senior Management Accountant. The business is going through a significant period of growth and this role will play a pivotal role in improving processes and creating a robust reporting environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for line management of one qualified Management Accountant and an unqualified Assistant Management Accountant and the job involves reviewing the work of these individuals alongside the additional reporting packs that are produced by them.
Key Responsibilities,
Operating Costs
- Manage the revenue and operating costs of the Group\'s UK portfolio and act as the finance contact for allocated revenue and cost categories.
- Keep up to date on the day to day operations of the operating business units, providing updates when required to other members of finance and head office staff.
- Business Partner with the building managers and relevant department heads, and keep them up to date on central issues, and provide them with analysis when required
Month End Reporting
- Complete month end accurately within the required timetable, including full P&L and balance sheets for the entities in your portfolio.
- Understand and provide variance analysis and commentary against historical performance and budget.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet items including the fixed asset register.
- Produce consolidated management accounts of the whole group.
- Contribute to board materials for distribution to board members.
- Ensure Corporate Overheads are correct and all costs have been correctly allocated between Buildings and Head Office.
- Review the month end accounting work of team members.
- Produce an additional board pack for a management agreement.
Other Duties
- Line management of one qualified Management Accountant and an unqualified Assistant Management Accountant.
- Review the work of the AR/AP teams, ensuring correct posting of all sales and purchase invoices, and monitor the debtors and creditors ledgers to ensure they are up to date.
- Mentor junior members of the management accounts team, many of whom are studying.
- Review existing processes and procedures and identify opportunities for improvements, and implement them.
- Develop and create reports using SAP and Excel.
- Liaising and assistance with auditor queries.
Required Experience,
- Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with at least 2 year PQE (first time pass preferable).
- Either experience of a similar role in a large organisation or managing experience of large complex audits.
- Strong financial background (real estate preferable but not essential).
- Prior experience with system enhancements or implementation.
- Broad financial background understanding accounts production, accounts receivable, accounts payable and banking transactions.
- Evidence of process improvement and implementation of change.
- Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of SAP
- Evidence of being able to present complex financial information in a simple way.
- Commercial acumen and be capable of thinking in big picture terms not just the detail.
- Has experience in managing teams directly/indirectly.
- Experience of producing consolidated accounts
