​Head of Finance and Operations | £55-60k | Membership Organisation| Permanent

This Head of Finance and Operations position will be a key member of the leadership team in a small but growing charitable membership organisation, leading the finance function, and overseeing HR, IT and membership services. This is a crucial role for the organisation reporting straight into the CEO and primarily focusing on maintaining the finance function and delivering both strong technical accounting as well as strategic decision making.

Key responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the CEO, lead on all financial and management reporting for the organisation under Charity SORP.

  • Prepare and present reporting for the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee as well as manage and lead the annual audit process.

  • Deliver monthly management accounts to the Executive team including managing the annual budgeting process.

  • Regularly work with budget holders across the organisation to review strategy and work as a key business partner to stakeholders.

  • Implement and improve various processes and controls to ensure an efficient way of working.

  • Oversee operations function including HR & IT by working with outsourced providers.

  • Manage a small team.

Person specification

  • A fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA).

  • Strong experience in managing a finance function and have led on management and financial reporting previously.

  • Experience of working in a charitable and/or membership organisation.

  • Experience of managing internal operations such as HR &IT.

  • A self-starter who is happy to 'get stuck-in’ and be involved with various ongoing strategic projects.

This opportunity has the option for flexible working and is very flexible around remote working. This role could be suitable for a candidate living outside London but occasionally coming into the office for important meetings (1-2 per month). With opportunity for this role to work closely with the CEO and lead on key long term strategic decision for the organisation, it is a brilliant role for an experienced and motivated accountant with an interest in charitable organisation.
