General Ledger Accountant

Altum Consulting are currently supporting one of our clients, a Dutch owned Retail business based in Amsterdam, to source an experienced General Ledger Accountant for their EMEA Head Office. 

This is a newly created role due to the expansion of the business and team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will responsible for:-

  • Month-end and Year-end closing activities 
  • Working closely with the Retail and E-Commerce teams to support finance related activities 
  • Suspense accounting
  • Booking in journal entries 
  • Review of monthly OPEX accounts 
  • Balance sheet reconciliations 
  • VAT and CIT returns 
  • Monthly reconciliation of intercompany accounts 
  • Working alongside Business Controllers to assist them with monthly activities 
Education and Experience Requirements:-
  • Educated with HBO, Bachelor or Masters in Finance, Business Administration or Economics 
  • 3-5 years of professional work experience within a General Accounting position 
  • Experience within Retail is highly desirable 
  • Fluency in the English language is essential and Dutch speaking is a plus 
  • Proficient user of SAP 
  • Experienced user of MS Office packages with advanced use of Excel
