EMEA GROUP CONTROLLER
Altum Consulting are privileged to be working exclusively again with one of our most prestigious clients during an exciting time for the business, to support their search of an EMEA Group Controller.
Our client is an international, family owned US business who are now under the second-generation of leadership. The business is a globally renowned brand within their niche area of food manufacturing and have major footprints in US, EMEA, Australasia and Latin America, selling their products in over 40 different countries.
Their successes have seen double digit growth year-on-year and they continue to push towards greater ambitions.
Now, our client is looking to hire a EMEA Group Controller into the business who will be supporting the accounting team in Germany and Amsterdam. The role can be based fully in Amsterdam but will initially require travel to their German office 3 days a week for approximately the first 4-6 weeks.
Reporting to the Finance Director, the EMEA Group Controller will be a key player in contributing to the overall growth and success of the business by managing the overall financial accounting activities across the regions. You will develop and create a high performing accounting team and will be supporting the Finance Director in initiating and leading an integral transition process of the current accounting activities.
Role & Responsibilities:-
Lead, train and develop a team of 12+ team members within the manufacturing facility located in Germany
Take ownership of overseeing the core transactional accounting functions across the EMEA regions
Ensuring the appropriate controls and compliance are in place and working effectively as per company regulations
Lead monthly and quarterly financial reporting
Consolidation of financial accounts and statements
Manage and lead all financial accounting related activities across the EMEA regions
Identifying, implementing ad improving business performance metrics on financial accounting/credit management
Actively participating and/or leading activities relating to cost control and improvements
Supporting auditors with the audit process
Working as a part of the overall financial leadership team
Providing clear and effective leadership, coaching and training to build and maintain a high performing team
Being an active member in supporting the business with various optimization and improvement projects within the financial accounting teams
Build and maintain an effective relationship with the Commercial Controlling team in Amsterdam
Education & Experience;-
Holds a professional accounting qualification such as;- RC, CA, ACA, CPA or similar
Educated with a Master degree in Accounting, Controlling or equivalent
10+ years of professional accounting/auditing experience working within an international accounting environment
Experience in the FMCG or Consumer Goods or Retail industry is highly desired
Can provide expert knowledge relating to technical financial accounting activities
Sound knowledge of US GAAP and ideally German GAAP
An experienced and hands-on manager with a "lead by example" style and positive mind-set with the proven ability in leading large, multi-cultural and high performing accounting teams
Familiar with cross functional activities such as;- sales, marketing and operations
Fluency in English is essential and must be able to communicate confidently and effectively across the business at all levels including the senior leadership team
Strong IT skills with experience using systems such as ;- Excel, SAP, Oracle and Exact
Able to "execute with excellence" and effectively support improvement projects across the accounting functions in conjunction with the companies continuous improvements mind-set
