Altum are proud to be partnering with a leading health and welfare charity to help recruit a Finance & Grants Manager on a 3 month interim contract. The role will lead in providing financial management, expertise and guidance for large and complex donor funded budgets, ensuring effective and rigorous financial monitoring, control and reporting. The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified (CCAB) accountant looking to progress their career in international development.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Maintain full oversight of the International Directorate’s finances, ensuring that unrestricted and restricted income and expenditure remain in line with approved budgets
  • Work closely with heads of department and regional managers to ensure all budget holders have sufficient working knowledge of their budgets
  • Support the Finance BP in the development of systems, policies and procedures across the entire international operations that are appropriate for the International Directorate
  • Build a strong network of regional finance managers to ensure that grant management and financial compliance with conditions in donor contracts are adhered to
  • Develop and implement capacity building strategies to address identified needs through training, one-on-one mentoring and coaching
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the International finance functions in regional offices and partners, regularly reviewing financial returns, reports and processes to monitor effectiveness
  • Conduct regular peer reviews with regional finance managers and regional partner staff to discuss finance position
  • Work closely with a peer team of Regional Finance Managers, providing direction, task flow management, capacity building and high-quality advice
  • Manage head office & regional finance staff and volunteers as required

Person Specification;

  • Fully Qualified Accountant  (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CIPFA)
  • Sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Working knowledge of charity SORP principles & application
  • Strong technical accounting skills and expertise
  • Strong financial analysis and reporting skills
  • Working knowledge of financial controls and risk management
  • Highly computer literate, familiar with Financial and IT System
