Altum Consulting are pleased to be partnering exclusively with one of the UK's largest real estate businesses in their search for a Deputy Financial Controller.
The business has recently gone through a company wide restructure and this has enabled the opportunity for a technically strong financial professional to join the largest and most profitable division with the group structure. The role reports into the Financial Controller and is key in the setting and operation of an appropriate control environment throughout the division. Responsible for a small team, the Deputy Financial Controller will work closely with the wider Finance team across the division setting the Financial Control tone, and with the wider Finance, Treasury and other teams around the Group.
Responsible for all aspects of the accounting within the division, deputising for the Financial Controller as required.
Supporting the Financial Controller in the preparation and review of the division’s consolidated results.
Operating and monitoring an appropriate control environment and creating a strong financial control ethic throughout the division’s 8 business units.
Responsible for the intercompany relationships with the other service lines within the group, monitoring the position and minimising any divisional risk.
Ownership of the relationship with the outsourced PTP, OTC and RTR teams.
Ownership of the P&L and Balance Sheet of the Central business unit.
Working with the FP&A team to facilitate budgeting and reforecasting.
Preparation of presentations, reports and analysis to be used in a range of fora and by the Financial Controller and Finance Director.
Preparation of cash flow budgets and forecasts, and monthly tracking of cash performance, liaising with Group Treasury and continuously refining and making improvements.
Preparation of information for year-end purposes, liaison with internal and external auditors, and day-to-day management of the annual audit procedures.
Identifying and leading the implementation of system and process improvements
Required Experience & Background,
Full accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
6-8 years PQE with previous experience of working within a large organisation (FTSE 250)
Good knowledge of IFRS is essential
Demonstrate ownership and management of the actuals, budget and forecast for a complex division
Demonstrate preparation of cash-flow budgeting, forecasting and tracking
Needs to be a self-starter
Proven track record of managing large complex audits in a timely manner
