A fast-growing FCA regulated Financial Services firm, based in London, with over 15 years of industry expertise and recognised in The Sunday Times top 100 best small companies to work for list.  The Board has ambitious plans to double the size of the business with 24 months through organic growth and sector consolidation.

The Role: Reports to CFO.  Seeking a Commercial Finance Analyst to provide pertinent and timely analysis of the financial performance of the business, providing management information including monthly KPI’s and analysis to the business. Using your experience and commercial acumen you will challenge business assumptions in forecasting and planning and interpret financial analysis to enable the business to make key decisions and achieve targets and drive performance. Additionally, this individual will be required to support the CFO in leading the long range and annual financial planning process 

The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; will be a creative, commercially focused and analytical problem solver.  An exposure to a trading environment in a regulated firm would be an advantage. You must have strong financial modelling skills, knowledge and use of business intelligence tools (preferably MS Power BI) and have strong planning and control discipline.


  • To undertake analysis and provide feedback on monthly financial results and key performance measures
  • Preparation of management reports against forecast, budget and prior year
  • Provide variance explanations and highlight opportunities and risks for the business
  • Continually identify and examine trends, communicating observations and provide recommendations for cost and margin improvement
  • Take ownership of Business Planning and Forecasting processes and the business case analysis of new initiatives
  • Support business managers in all finance and accounting matters including budgeting, forecasting, expense tracking and control
  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure the development of relevant business information, and timely financial, budgeting, long term modelling, business and operational analysis, and reporting
  • Provide leadership in improving data structures and business process to provide decision quality analysis


  • Professional Finance qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
  • Outstanding analytical skills and a proven ability to connect data analysis with business issues and decisions. Advanced Excel and modeling skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and root cause analysis skills, combined with proven ability to communicate those analyses
  • Highly analytical, detail oriented and a strong business sense; proven ability to manage new ideas and creative solutions
  • A highly collaborative work style
  • Exceptional skills in communication, motivation, and interpersonal relations
  • Exceptional presentation and writing skills and be able to convey a message that is understandable and relevant, linking business issues, financial results and strategy
  • Strong attention to detail with passion for continuous improvement, a strong sense of accountability
  • Knowledge and experience of database management (SQL) and business intelligence tools – MS Power BI preferable
