Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for the role of Assistant Tax Manager Netherlands, located in the headquarters in Amsterdam. The role will support the group companies in the Netherlands by ensuring that tax affairs are proactively managed in an acceptable and appropriate manner, and that opportunities are realised. The Assistant Tax Manager will work with the Dutch Tax Manager and the wider Europe and Group tax teams to actively participate in and implement global tax strategy. The role offers exciting opportunities for broadened tax experience in the Netherlands, personal career development as part of the global tax team and exposures to areas such as M&A activity, implementation of new technologies and business improvement initiatives. 

The purpose of this role is to support the Group's Netherlands Tax Manager, through:
- Organising and managing corporate tax & transfer pricing compliance 
- Providing advice and assistance on corporate tax reform in the Netherlands and consequent actions
- Providing tax support to operations in the Netherlands (primarily corporate tax & transfer pricing but other taxes will be in scope)
- Liaising with the Group Tax, Treasury and Accounting teams in relation to tax consequences of new business proposals, reorganisations, financing activities and M&A projects
- Supporting the Dutch Tax Manager & Europe Tax Manager on new business initiatives

Some travel required in meeting representatives from operations & tax advisors, and attending Group Tax conferences. Opportunities for career development as part of global tax team.  

 

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

- Preparation of Dutch fiscal unity tax return and associated documentation
- Preparation and maintenance of local transfer pricing file for Netherlands (covering head office activities and operations)
- Providing assistance to finance teams and operations on tax accounting, with preparation of the year end tax review of the consolidation Dutch tax position
- Supporting and assisting operations on ad-hoc projects as required, including new acquisitions and divestments
- Providing technical tax advice on the tax impact of new business proposals
- Participating in projects led by the Europe Tax Manager and Group Tax team.

Key functional competencies

- Accounting, economics or business qualification
- At least 5 years industry or practice experience in taxation 
- Strong foundation in accounting 
- Ability to oversee and project manage tax compliance and routine tax advice 
- Proven ability to manage workflows with multiple stakeholders in an effective manner
- Ability to build and maintain relationships - both internal and external 
- Proficient in Dutch and English
