Altum are excited to partner with a growing real estate investment trust based in London to secure an Assistant Finance Analyst. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-known student accommodation specialist with partnerships that include some of the highest calibre universities in the UK.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will gain exposure to different areas and be able to contribute to the company’s performance and continued strategic growth. This will be achieved by producing timely and accurate financial and management accounts partnering with high level stakeholders and actively supporting the implementation of a new finance system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts e.g., cash flow, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, etc.
  • Create various reports when required
  • Support with the budgeting process aligning with management/ shareholder requirements
  • Assist with the audit process ensuring all supporting documents are of the highest quality
  • Organise and submit statutory accounting packs
  • Become the point of contact for external Auditors and resolve queries
  • Maintain all accounting records e.g., general ledger, purchase ledger, sales ledger, cash books, etc.
  • Aid monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly VAT returns
  • Help to recognise and improve weak processes within the finance function
  • Assist the IT team in automation and process improvements
  • Communicate with the Treasury function as required and construct documentation to support transactions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the senior finance team
  • Various ad hoc duties

Key Skills

  • Studying towards an accounting qualification (CIMA or ACCA)
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles
  • Excellent Excel, MS Word, and Outlook skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team player
  • Excellent time management, organisation, and planning skills
