Jen McMurray, Senior Interim Consultant at Altum Consulting is leading an interview series with our temp and interim candidates. In this series we will discover what the current interim market is like in London, how candidates found the right role and what they are looking forward to as restrictions ease.

First to be interviewed is Kate Warner, a successful candidate who recently relocated to London for a new senior FTC role within the consumer industry. Jen was introduced to Kate via LinkedIn whilst she was still living in South Africa, this meant the interview process, offer and acceptance was all done remotely.

  1. What is your career background and what first attracted you to working in London?
I've had 20 years experience in strategic financial management in retail, renewable energy and financial services. We've been looking to emigrate as a family and London seemed like a great option from a career perspective as there appeared to be many interesting opportunities. I also have a British passport and we have a great support base in London, through family and friends.

  2. How quickly did you find the right role in the UK?
It was actually relatively quick. It took around 3 months.

  3. What was your experience of working with Jen and Altum?
Jen was amazing! She kept me up to date in all areas of the process, she prepared me well for the interviews and was an absolute delight to work with.

  4. What are you most looking forward to now you are in London?
Getting out of quarantine! (I flew in from a red listed country so had to quarantine in a hotel for 11 nights!). I can't wait to go into the office and meet my colleagues face to face and explore Surrey, where we'll be living.
